About Beltway
Maryland families have sent us their teens since 2014.
Licensed and certified by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, bonded and insured. Local churches, youth organisations and law enforcement agencies have referred families to us for years. We teach from two campuses, in Bowie and Hanover.
What the licence means
Certified, bonded and insured.
- MVA licensed and certified
- Licensed by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, and bonded and insured to operate in Maryland, continuously since January 2014.
- The full 36 hour program
- 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours behind the wheel, following the MVA approved curriculum. Classes run three hours a day, Monday to Friday, across two weeks.
- Approved to teach online
- The MVA has approved us to deliver the classroom portion of the 36 hour program online, using the same curriculum and materials.
- Filed with the MVA for you
- Your completion is submitted to the MVA electronically once the behind the wheel portion is passed. The MVA does not accept paper certificates.
Our instructors
Calm is the whole skill.
Every instructor combines formal training with a background in education, law enforcement, or commercial driving. That mix matters, because teaching a nervous fifteen year old is a different skill from driving well yourself.
Staying calm in a stressful car is what actually gets an inexperienced driver to the next level. Our instructors are MVA certified, and they coach patiently, because that is the part that works.

- One lesson a week
Time to practise between
We schedule one behind the wheel lesson per week on purpose, so there is room to practise what was covered before the next one.
- Assessed from lesson one
We start where you are
Students are assessed on the first lesson. We ask for around 20 hours of practice with a parent or coach beforehand, and a permit held at least four months.
- 80% by lesson three
A standard, not a rubber stamp
By the end of the third lesson the student must pass the evaluation at 80% or higher. If more time is needed, an extra hour can be booked.
